Architectural ConstructionMeet the BuilderWhen asked how long he has been involved in residential construction, Peyton "Bud" Hurley jokingly responded, "I was raised on a job site." All kidding aside, Bud recalls accompanying his parents, owners of Peyton Hurley Construction, to residential job sites when he was a small child. In his teens, he recollects doing various jobs for his parents' company during the summers gaining valuable "hands on" experience with job rotation on foundation and framing crews. After graduating from Christian Brothers High School, Bud attended the University of Mississippi until he received a call from his parents who asked for his help in the family business as the requests for custom homes soared. Prior to receiving his BBA in Business from the University of Memphis, Bud was promoted to Project Manager for Peyton Hurley Construction in 1987. By 1988, Bud was named President of Peyton Hurley Construction, building custom homes in some of the most prestigious developments in Memphis including The Gardens of River Oaks, The Estates of Riveredge, and on large parcels of land in east Shelby County. When reflecting upon those years, Joyce Hurley, construction industry veteran and Bud's mother, said, "Bud had a million dollar education." As a second-generation homebuilder, Bud is proud to have inherited his parents' attention to quality and detail. ArcCon's History and HighlightsIn 1991, Bud Hurley was anxious to add his unique style and discover his niche, so he founded Arc Con, short for Architectural Construction, which was incorporated with Bud as the President. During that same year, Arc Con won the celebrated honor, "Best of Show," in the Vesta Home show. With that success, Bud continued his focus in the Cordova Club subdivision. As the company was awarded the status "Registered Home Builder" by the Home Builder Association, Bud became a member of the GBI (Graduate Builder Institute) by taking instruction in "Building Technology," "Estimation," Project Management," "Scheduling," "Computer Technology," "Energy Efficient Construction," and more recently "Structured Low Voltage Wiring." From 1993 through 1995, Arc Con built both custom and speculative homes in Rivertrail Crossing, The Gardens of Riveredge, and Lakeland. From 1995 through 1998, Arc Con focused on building homes in Halle Plantation and Dogwood Gardens. From 1998-2002, Arc Con's presence has been in subdivisions such as Bedford Plantation, The Grove of Raleigh La Grange, Davies Plantation, Southwind, and Oakleigh. From 2003 to the present, Arc Con has been focused on rural subdivisions like “Wickliffe”, “La Grange”, and “Old Oaks” with an urban focus on “The Pinnacle of Germantown”. Today, Arc Con builds 3-5 homes a year. Arc Con's concentration is primarily distinctive custom homes in the Germantown, Collierville, and Shelby County. As an active member of the Memphis Home Builders Association and the National Association of Homebuilders, Bud Hurley is a registered homebuilder. ArcCon's VisionIn 2004, Arc Con plans to build 3-4 homes in McVay Park (just North of the Germantown park on McVay) as well as custom homes in Normandy Place, La Grange, and Germantown Manor. Arc Con is available for additional projects. ArcCon Advantages
